DJing at Vortex

At Vortex we want to give everyone the opportunity to put together a set. The only thing we ask is that you attend Vortex at least once beforehand.

The total length of your set should be around 1 hour, and you can make either an audio or an mp3 CD, and attach with it a set list of the songs in order you want them played, including artist, song name, and the album name if you have it. This way we will be able to have all that info published on the DJ playlists on the website afterwards.

The kind of music we're looking for is generally in the realm of electro, industrial, synthpop, goth/gothic, metal and otherwise "dark" music. We are looking for music that people will enjoy and want to dance to, a combination of well-known tracks that we already know people like, and otherwise good music that need to be discovered and that would maybe not get a chance to be heard otherwise.

Due to equipment limitations, we ask that you provide your set CD and list one week before the event, so it can be properly queued in our system and have crossfades added. Unfortunately, the current equipment does dot allow for real "live" sets that can be changed on the fly, unless you bring your own computer.

Finally, please provide us with a DJ name if desired.

Guidelines

If you are running your own set, please wait for and follow instructions from the other DJs involved that night. This will ensure smooth transition between the different DJs and a professional sound overall.
